The Research and Publication Team researches, writes, and publishes relevant manuscripts for use by US Army leaders and policy makers. The CSI Press publishes works in a variety of layouts and formats with all works available online at our website for free downloading. The R&P Team also conducts the CSI Oral History program, called the Operational Leadership Experience (OLE), which archives in a database the experiences of Soldiers during recent operations. The Team also writes the contemporary history of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan in the On Point and A Different Kind of War book series. And the R&P Team is the lead for the CSI/TRADOC periodic symposium that hosts leading academics and senior military leaders as they address historical topics relevant to today's current operations.

The Staff Ride Team develops and conducts live and virtual staff rides as an educational tool for Soldiers. By focusing on the timeless and universal aspects of warfighting, staff rides provide important insights into military operations, concepts of leadership and the face of battle, through vignettes and topics for discussion. The Staff Ride Team also provides information and guidance to US Army organizations on how to conduct staff rides for the purpose of educating leaders.

Tom Pilsch is a Professor of the Practice of National Security in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, where he teaches a series of courses on Technology & Modern War and national and international security.

Prior to joining Georgia Tech, Tom served nearly 30 years on active duty with the United States Air Force and retired with the rank of Brigadier General.

His professional interests include the history of war and warfare, military technology and operations, national security decision processes, and strategic planning.

The American Historical Association (AHA) is the largest professional organization in the United States devoted to the study and promotion of history and historical thinking. Only the AHA brings together historians from all specializations and professions, embracing their breadth, variety, and ever-changing activity.

The Army Historical Foundation was established in 1983 as a member-based, publicly supported 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of the American Soldier.

The motto of the Foundation — Preserve the Heritage…Educate the Future — summarizes its mission. The Foundation seeks to educate future Americans to fully appreciate the sacrifices that generations of American soldiers have made to safeguard the freedoms of this nation.

The Foundation is not a governmental agency. It depends on funds from memberships, donations, and grants for support.

Today, the Foundation is actively engaged in supporting the National Museum of the United States Army by carrying out a major $200 million Capital Campaign. In 2000, the Secretary of the Army designated the Foundation as its primary partner in the building of the National Museum.

Besides supporting the Capital Campaign, AHF funding helps to refurbish historical Army buildings, acquire and conserve Army historical art and artifacts, support Army history educational programs, research, and publication of historical materials on the American soldier, and provide support and counsel to private and governmental organizations committed to the same goals as the Foundation.

Since 1950, the Association of the United States Army has worked to support all aspects of national security while advancing the interests of America's Army and the men and women who serve.

AUSA is a private, non-profit educational organization that supports America's Army - Active, National Guard, Reserve, Civilians, Retirees, Government Civilians, Wounded Warriors, Veterans, and family members. AUSA provides numerous Professional Development Opportunities at a variety of events both local and national.

Founded in 1979, the Society works to address common concerns, support shared interests, and stimulate discussion across the federal history community. The work of that community takes many forms, including documentary collections, historic preservation and interpretation, institutional histories, museum exhibitions, oral history programs, policy research, records and information management, and reference services. The Society’s membership is similarly diverse, including not only historians but also archaeologists, archivists, consultants, curators, editors, librarians, preservationists, and others engaged in or committed to government history.

Established in 1933 as the American Military History Foundation, renamed in 1939 the American Military Institute, and renamed again in 1990 the Society for Military History, the Society is devoted to stimulating and advancing the study of military history. Its membership (today more than 2300) has included many of the nation's most prominent scholars, soldiers, and citizens interested in military history.
